Meaningful “World Children’s Book Week” Donation from EMU Students

Another social responsibility project was organized by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Community Involvement Center. Resulting from a collaboration between the Genesis IMC Agency (under the coordination of EMU Community Involvement Center and Communication Faculty, Department of Public Relations and Advertising Chair Assoc. Dr. Anıl Kemal Kaya) and the Eastern Mediterranean Doğa Primary School a book donation for “World Children’s Book Week” took place.

Books that were gathered and purchased for the event with the slogan “Leave no book in dusty caves, share adventures” were given to students at the Şehit Zeki Salih Primary School in Famagusta.

During the donation that took place on Wednesday the 23rd of November 2016 between 11:00 and 12:00, EMU Community Involvement Center and Public Relations and Advertising Department Chair Assoc. Dr. Anıl Kemal Kaya, Eastern Mediterranean Doğa Primary School teachers and head Şansel Fırtınaer and voluntary Genesis IMC Agency students were present at the Şehit Zeki Salih Primary School.

As a result of the project sponsored by Coffemania and Yemen Kahvecisi located in Famagusta, which included donations from kind individuals approximately 700 books were placed in the Şehit Zeki Salih Primary School library.

Şehit Zeki Salih Primary School Head Yılmaz Erdelhan, noted that the donation is very important as it highlights the importance and benefits of reading for children. In addition, Erdelhan stated that reading a book provides an option apart from being on the internet for children to be happy and improve themselves. Erdelhan thanked everyone that participated in the event that ended after photographs were taken.
